I have to reset the modem, disconnect-connect it again, shut down PC, wait, then restart and sometimes I have to repeat all this 3-4 times before connecting successfully for another few days or hours. I can go on for several days without interruption then during next two-three days the connection would constantly drop. They replaced their modem with a brand new Technicolor TC8305C 'gateway' but it had no effect. Problem: my Dell (Vostro) PC with Windows 7 (32-bit) Pro (SP1) disconnects frequently from the Internet (wired connection through Comcast modem). If you could help me, it might save a life of a person walking under my windows (I live on the 4th floor - just saying ) If none of these help, complain to your ISP.I have had this problem for several months now and am close to throwing my PC out of the window. If that doesn’t work, replace the cable going from the wall to the router. If the problem is limited to the Internet, but happens with every device, replace the cable connecting the modem to the router. If that solves the problem, either figure out a better way to configure the firewall or replace it with a competitor’s product. If your PC can access the local network but not the Internet, and every other device on the network can access the Internet, try turning off your firewall. Uninstall and reinstall your network adapter drivers.Make sure you have the right security password. Or change the location of your PC to get a better signal.
If you’re using ethernet, replace the cable. If this solves the problem, examine the firewall’s settings or replace it with another one. If your PC can’t access anything on the local network, but other devices on the network can access the Internet, try these tests:
